We are passionate about inspiring future generations to be part of the energy industry and its transition journey.

We support many education initiatives which equip young people with skills in science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM) as well as promote innovation, problem solving and critical thinking.

Developing the Young Workforce

Through Developing the Young Workforce, we have formed partnerships with four local secondary schools in the Aberdeenshire area as well as two in Shetland. We provide support with STEM subjects, raise awareness of the energy transition, educate pupils about the opportunities in digital and artificial intelligence in the industry, as well as promote learning languages. As a French-headquartered company, we enjoy welcoming pupils learning French to our office to practise with our French native-speaking staff as well as those who have learned French through working opportunities.

Young Engineers and Science Clubs

We are a sponsor of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry’s (SCDI) Young Engineers and Science Clubs (YESC). The YESC programme develops and delivers activities which support STEM, digital strategies and gender balance through their work with primary and secondary schools across Scotland. We’re also the principal sponsor of the YESC Climate Smarter project which involves S2 and S3 pupils investigating and experimenting with energy efficiency, smart controls, electricity generation, responsible water and sustainable building material use in order to design and build a future eco model of their school. Our funding has enabled ten schools across Aberdeenshire and Shetland to participate in this exciting and topical project.

Industrial Cadets Bronze Project

We support the Industrial Cadets by matching up students passionate about STEM with a TotalEnergies graduate where they are mentored and take part in career webinars, online STEM activities and masterclasses to work towards completing a project. We also welcome the students to our office to see their mentors’ workplace in action. Students taking part in this programme are awarded a Bronze Industrial Credit Award.

Climate Change & Energy Transition Course

One of the ways in which we’re helping the next generation of engineers prepare for the energy transition is through TotalEnergies’ Associate Professors organisation (‘Professeurs Associés’). We have a network of more than 250 current and retired employees from TotalEnergies who use their extensive expertise to deliver courses across the world on the energy transition. In the UK, we’ve delivered this course at several universities, including Leeds, Cranfield and Aberdeen. The course comprises of a 15-hour programme delivered over a week that can earn students valuable credit units and give them a comprehensive understanding of the UK energy mix, evolutionary trends and their impact on climate challenges.
