The annual Offshore Safety Awards, jointly organised by Oil and Gas UK and Step Change in Safety, recognises and celebrates individuals and businesses striving to make the UK Continental Shelf a safer place to work.

Total is delighted to sponsor this event. Jean-Luc Guiziou, Managing Director of Total E&P UK spoke at the conference and set out why Total is proud to sponsor the event:

“We are here because we share the belief that safety is at the heart of our work, at the heart of our offshore industry. The Offshore Safety Awards is the only event dedicated to recognising the best of what we do in health and safety.

“At Total, safety is our core value.  That does not mean we are perfect. Not at all. It is an acknowledgment that, as much as safety is our first thought, it is something that we can always improve.

“Recognising good work is very important.  It reinforces and validates the excellence of the individuals and teams that have performed brilliantly.  It also shines a light for everyone else, inspiring them and spreading good ideas and best practice. For me, that’s what makes this event so important. And that’s why Total is proud to sponsor it.”

The Offshore Safety Awards are different from more typical industry awards. More informal, they are designed to encourage attendees to meet those who have been shortlisted for an award. The awards are also decided by the audience, with voting taking place during the event.

Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted for an award and who took part in the event.
