Total celebrates Elgin Franklin’s billionth barrel
Virtual event included screening of a new film telling the asset’s story
In celebration of Elgin Franklin’s 1 billion barrel milestone Pierre Cuisnier, Central North Sea Asset Director hosted around 300 people in a virtual event on Thursday 25 June. Those who’ve been part of the Elgin Franklin story from the initial discovery through to today’s operations, current and former employees, retirees and friends and colleagues from across the globe came together to raise a toast to the asset which has been producing since 2001 and has instilled in so many of those involved an incredible sense of pride and achievement.
A high pressure high temperature field, Elgin Franklin is the largest of its kind in the world and continues to deliver significant volumes of oil and gas, c. 150,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, ensuring its standing and importance in the portfolio of both Total and our seven partners in the field: Chrysaor, ENI, ExxonMobil, Ithaca, One Dyas, Premier Oil and Summit.
Speaking on the evening, Pierre Cuisnier said: “Collectively, today, we all are heirs of a long story, and it is a story that we can be proud of. Developing Elgin Franklin required a lot of what has become one of Total’s values: pioneering spirit. As a young engineer I was amazed to see the supply chain organise to deliver this frontier development. As an asset director, I contemplate how far we have come. It is an honour to lead such a great asset”.
The event included the screening of a film developed to tell the story of Elgin Franklin through the testament of those who have lived and breathed it. Developed entirely throughout lockdown, using video conference calls to capture stories, it covers the life of this incredible asset from discovery to today’s operations. You can watch the film here.
