Total supported this year’s language conference held in Aberdeen on 10 February. The motivational event hosted by SCILT, Scotland’s National Centre for Languages, welcomed over 140 pupils from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire schools.
The event gave learners the opportunity to meet with businesses and get an insight into how languages can not only enhance their employability, but is also a life enriching experience.
“Languages can enhance communication skills, motivation and employability opportunities in line with the aims of 'Developing Scotland's Young Workforce', the Scottish Government’s current youth employment strategy.” SCILT
This was reinforced in the presentation delivered by Virginie Jégat, Communication Coordinator at Total: “As an international company with a presence in 130 countries, we see daily the benefit of languages in the workplace. Total E&P UK’s workforce counts more than 40 nationalities and the ability to speak a language adds huge value to the business experience, whilst increasing cultural understanding”.
In today’s competitive job market, language skills are a definite plus in standing out from the crowd!
