Going for Gold!
Kat Parkin of Total Gas & Power been selected to represent Team GB as an Age Grouper at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago, USA this September.
Kat’s determination and a gruelling training programme impressed her colleagues so much that the management of Total Gas & Power agreed to sponsor Kat.
Dave Cranfield, Vice President – North West Europe commented:
”Kat’s progress and results are a remarkable achievement and an inspiration to us all.”
Her journey started in 2013 when she decided it was time to conquer her fear of water by teaching herself to swim. Subsequently she found herself taking part in a series of demanding open water competitions. Not long afterwards, Kat started jogging a regular 10km. The final leg of the journey came when she purchased herself a bicycle.
Kat set herself one key goal: to qualify for the GB Age Group World Championships. After appointing a coach, carrying out an eight month, six day a week training plan, and hitting the pain barrier countless times, her goal has been achieved.
Kat said: “I am extremely excited and proud that I will be there representing Team GB in Chicago. The funding from Total Gas & Power has really helped me to be able to concentrate my energy on training. Along with my inspiring coach, I hope to raise the profile of British women competing in world triathlons.’
