HESWALL PRIMARY SCHOOL, WIRRAL CROWNED BETTER ENERGY SCHOOL AWARDS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2019

Pupils from four regional winning schools gathered in London on 18 June for the Better Energy School Awards National Award Ceremony - a fun-filled day to celebrate their inspirational project-based work.  Organised in conjunction with the Young People's Trust for the Environment (YPTE), Total has sponsored the awards – open to every primary school across England, Scotland and Wales – for the past 12 years.

Each regional finalist won their school £1,000.  Heswall Primary School from Aberdeen were crowned UK National Champions and received the top prize of £5,000. The school’s ‘Extinction is Forever’ project saw the children, working with five other schools in their federation to create ‘Extinction Is Forever’, a video which was shown on a giant screen as part of ‘Wirral Science Under The Stars’, an event hosted and organised by Heswall Primary School, which this year attracted over 1,000 visitors. Their film highlights the problems faced by endangered species across the planet.
