Inspiring Fashion Show with a Difference

On 7 and 8 May, 24 very special women took to the stage as models in Courage on the Catwalk, a unique event organised by charity Friends of ANCHOR and supported by Total’s UK E&P division.

Held in the iconic art deco Aberdeen Beach Ballroom, the event was an opportunity for the women from Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland, who had all faced the reality of cancer, to show their determination not be daunted by illness, to share their story and inspire others.

Now it its fourth year, Courage on the Catwalk has grown from strength to strength and this year’s event has raised an incredible £100,000 for the charity.

Sandra McLennan, Senior Communications Adviser at Total said “we are thrilled to be title sponsor of this unique and dazzling event.  We support many organisations in Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland and Friends of ANCHOR is particularly special to us as so many have been touched by cancer.”

Every penny raised from Courage on the Catwalk will go directly into helping make north east cancer and haematology care the best it can be for those receiving treatment at the ANCHOR Unit in the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The charity invests in non-NHS provided equipment, wellbeing services for both ANCHOR patients and their relatives.  It also invests in ground-breaking research taking place at the University of Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy (ANCHOR) unit is an NHS department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary which treats patients with all forms of cancer, leukaemia and benign blood disorders throughout the North-east of Scotland including Orkney and Shetland.
Friends of ANCHOR was set up to directly support the ANCHOR unit.
